American Indians May Get Their Bison Back


From Indian Country this week:

For years, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) has tussled with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Indian Reservation over the jurisdiction and management of the National Bison Range in northwestern Montana. But recently, the federal agency has signaled its support for legislation that would yield control of the federal refuge to the tribe. By Jack McNeel
